Quiet Time & Naps
All of the children have a quiet time in the afternoon. Infants and younger children nap in playpens (Pack ’n Plays) in our family’s bedrooms. Each child has their own room to sleep, so they are not disturbed by each other. Children who have outgrown the playpens move to the playroom, where there is a couch to rest on. Older children who don't nap anymore are encouraged to read or play quietly so the younger ones can get their well needed rest.
Outdoor Play
Our outdoor space is an extension of our indoor playroom. We spend as much time as we can outside running, climbing, sliding, digging, and playing. We have ride on cars and trikes, climbers, slides, a sandbox, a playhouse, picnic tables, balls, a water table, hula hoops, bubbles and much more. The backyard is fully fenced in. We are also just down the street from the park. Because we spend so much time outdoors it is very important that your child arrives every day dressed properly for the weather outside. Please make sure to send a bathing suit every day during summer months and proper outside wear during outdoor months.
Nutrition and Meals
Good nutrition is vital to children’s physical and mental development. I serve fresh, healthy foods including in-season fruits and vegetables and homemade meals. Your child(ren) will be provided with lunch and snacks daily. I regularly include the children in meal preparation to encourage the development of good eating habits. When children are involved in the meal preparation process, they feel more comfortable trying a variety of healthy foods, some of which they may be hesitant or resistant to eat otherwise.
A selection of nutritionally balanced, high quality foods are prepared and served at our home each day and each child is encouraged to try all food that is offered. Meals/snacks are served at approx. 9am, 11:30am and 3pm. If your child is absent during a scheduled meal or snack, it is your responsibility to feed him/her before he/she arrives.
* Drinks*
2% milk is served with each meal (1-2 year olds are served homogenized milk) and water at both snacks. Water is not limited and is available throughout the day. Fruit juice is only served occasionally and only during snacks. The children are given their meals and snacks first so as not to fill up on fluids.
* Formula & Starter Foods*
Infants under the age of one are served formula or expressed breast milk as their primary nutrition source. Once solid foods are introduced at home and each new food has been eaten for at least one week I will serve those foods as well. Infant formula, breast milk, and baby foods are supplied by parents. Parents can inform me of each new food being introduced and if any reactions occur.
*Food Allergies*
Because many food allergies and sensitivities can result in severe or life-threatening reactions, we require that you indicate any allergies or sensitivities your child may have. All efforts will be made to prevent your child coming into contact with the food in question.
Snacks
*Below are some examples of what we have for our snacks
Muffins & apples sauce
Lunch
*Below are some things we cook up for lunch
Jam and peanut butter on mini pitas
Vacation Time and Stat Holidays
I usually take 2 weeks of holidays during the summer months and 1 week of holidays in the winter months. I give at least 2 weeks notice of when my holidays are going to be but usually you will get a month or more notice, sometimes 2. I do not recieve payment from you when I am on holidays.
Each family gets 2 weeks during the year for their holidays at which they do not have to pay for their daycare services during that time. You need to give me 2 weeks notice as to when your holidays will be so I can adjust my daytime plans according to your holidays as I plan meals and activites well in advance.
With the exception of vacation days which are unpaid all other daycare days must be paid whether your child is here or not including stat holidays which I do take off.
** Exceptions will be made for sick days though
**Please check calendar area on this website often as this is where I post holidays, appointments and special events going on at daycare.
Trial Period & Giving Notice of Termination of Services
All new children will be cared for a two week trial period beginning on your childs first actual day of care. During that time the parent or provider can terminate the agreement with 24 hours notice. After the trial period ends, two weeks notice is required by either party to terminate childcare services.
Potty Training
I am happy to help with potty training. Parents are asked to intiate the training at home before starting it at daycare. Once training is intiated parents are asked to supply several changes of underwear and clothing and or pull-ups if that is what they using at home.
When Your Child Is Sick
Please keep your child at home if they are suffering from any of the following:
-Pink eye
-Impetigo or any other rash until a doctor identifies it as not being contagious
-Vomiting
-Diarrhea
-Severe cold with fever, sneezing and nasal discharge
-Chicken pox
-Strep throat
-Ear infection etc
* If a doctor prescribes an antibiotic for an infection the child must remain home from daycare until they have been on the antibiotic for a mininum of 24 hours.
** In the case of stomach flu and or diarrhea, the child may return 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting or diarrhea.
*** PLEASE BE HONEST....RULES ARE IN PLACE FOR EVERYONE'S BEST INTEREST
Communication
Communication is very important to me. When I accept a new family into my business, I like to be sure that we can share openly any questions or concerns that either of us may have. I welcome questions, feedback or discussions of any kind that are oriented towards a positive outcome for the children. Sensitive issues will be discussed in private outside of regular childcare hours either by telephone or conference in person.
You are encouraged to call me anytime. If you call during the day please be aware that I may be busy with the children and may not be able to answer the phone always. The best time to call during the day is early afternoon when the children are having nap/quiet time.
Taxes
I will supply you with a year end reciept of all daycare fees paid during the year for tax purposes. This will be given to you in March of each year. You may request your reciept earlier if services have been terminated.
